How long was your fast?
26 days

When did you fast?
August 28th – September 22, 2005

What was your age, gender, height, weight before your fast?
(do I have to answer this one?!) 41 years old, 5’7”, 160 lbs

What was your weight after completing the fast?
130 lbs

Why did you decide to fast?
To regulate my thyroid, to get (deeper)into proper health, to not lose my mind, to get cleaner, and to stabilize hormones.

What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast?
I didn’t really have any apprehension – I trusted my instincts 100% that this is what I needed to do.

Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? If so, why? Why did you continue/stop?
I didn’t consider ending it and wished I would have the time to do a “complete” fast. I feel like I gave myself ample time to re-feed for the experience I had.

Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast?
I believe I did.

Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why, or why not?
I think supervised is wise because I’m not sure one knows what is going to occur. I like being looked after. I think it helps a person stay on as well. Environment is key.

Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center?
I heard about Tanglewood and Loren and was drawn to it. Even in Panama. Actually more because of Panama.

What was your experience like at Tanglewood?
Divine. I felt very cared for. Very relaxed.

What did you experience during the fast?
I felt pretty good the whole time. Nothing too intense. Some flutter in my throat towards the end. And some emotional uproar 4 or 5 times.

How did you spend your time?
For my energy level I do feel good about keeping myselft down as much as I did. I got a little over stimulated with games a couple of times but I stopped doing them. I journaled and read a little bit, and also practiced meditation.

Were you hungry during your fast?
No

Did you get weak?
No.

What was the best part of the process for you?
Knowing what I was doing for my body. Inside and out. And stretching my mind. Strengthening my spirit while weakening the hold of the flesh.

What was the most difficult part of the process for you?
It wasn’t hard for me, but probably not exercising and keeping still for such a long period of time was the most challenging, because I felt good.

Was it ever painful? Did you experience discomfort?
No and no.

What are you experiencing now after the fast?
Finding my “known” strength, renewed digestion. I feel great so I really want to bring my body back with patience, love and a better understanding.

What kind of diet are you following after your fast?
Mono meals ROCK! I like them a lot – I sometimes did it out of instinct but now I will do it more. And simple salads. Simplicity and more fruit than veggies.

Is eating difficult for you now that you’ve complete the fast?
No, its better than ever!

Would you fast again?
Absolutely, annually – next year to completion, then live well, I want to fast every year’s end for 2-3 weeks.

What advice would you give to other fasters?
Do it baby! You deserve it. Live a good quality healthful life. Slow down the aging process. Clean up – give it a rest.

Additional Comments:
The staff and interns couldn’t be better. Great vibe here. People seem happy to be here and it shows. Patience, kindness, and very loving.
