Age: 54, Height: 5’4”, Weight: 132 lbs

What was your weight after completing the fast?
117 lbs

Why did you decide to fast?
Felt like I had a lot of toxins and joint and muscle pain – and of the location.

What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast?
I have never done a water fast before and I wasn’t sure if it was good for the body.

Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? If so, why? Why did you continue/stop?
Never considered ending it, it was fairly easy. I thought it would be much more difficult.

Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast?
Yes, and more!

Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why, or why not?
Definitely. The support and the care of the staff was important, especially to explain what is going on and to be there if any symptoms arise. Plus, it was easier to get complete rest.

Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center?
It was close to where we were staying.

What was your experience like at Tanglewood?
It’s a beautiful place. Everyone was very supportive.

What did you experience during the fast?
Some mild discomfort the first few days, but no hunger and it seemed quite easy. sometimes restlessness and boredom.

How did you spend your time?
Mostly lying down with eyes closed. Some reading and writing and talking with people. And massages.

Were you hungry during your fast?
Not really at all. Just had some food fantasies.

Did you get weak?
Only when trying to walk too much.

What was the best part of the process for you?
Letting go and not having to do or think of anything but healing.

What was the most difficult part of the process for you?
Restlessness and some boredom.

Was it ever painful? Did you experience discomfort?
Once after the second day of eating – cramps and nausea.

What are you experiencing now after the fast?
No joint pain or muscle pain, very rested.

Did you experience any changes due to fasting?
Stopped taking hormones – no hot flashes or other symptoms. No muscle or joint pain, including lower back pain. No frequent urination. Hopefully my exercise induced asthma is gone, too!

What kind of diet are you following after your fast?
I am going to try to stick to raw foods – a big change for me.

Is eating difficult for you now that you’ve complete the fast?
No, I find everything tastes great and I eat slower.

Would you fast again?
?? Yes!

What advice would you give to other fasters?
I would say that fasting is the perfect way to let the body heal itself. It’s amazing what the results are.
