What was your weight after completing the fast?
121.5 lbs

Why did you decide to fast?
I wanted to detox my body. I want to start fresh with whole natural foods. I wanted to get off some of my access fat I carried. I wanted to see what it would be like emotionally.

What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast?
That I could not eat for 21 days! I’ve never done that before. Also the thought of doing nothing for 21 days seemed very challenging and not fun at all.

Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? If so, why? Why did you continue/stop?
Yes, but not really. I wanted to see it through.

Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast?
Yes, I completed the fast. I am still detoxing. I learned I could go 21 days without eating and not die. I did have emotional stuff come up more that I thought. I also did mostly nothing for 21 days which I never thought was possible.

Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why, or why not?
Yes, there is no way I could have did that on my own. I would have given up a long time ago. Having support helps so much. Plus you do not have to do anything but rest, even you water is brought to you. So you can rest and want to rest.

Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center?
Because of the internship opportunity, and also because it is is Panama and it seemed like it would be nice to get away from the States.

What was your experience like at Tanglewood?
Pretty good. The interns were all awesome. The water was always full, I really could not have asked for more.

What did you experience during the fast?
A lot of physical and emotional things. A lot of detoxing of diet pills, and other substances I had put in my body. It was good to get them out.

How did you spend your time?
Resting! I picked up a book after day 9 for the first time and read a couple of books but mostly laid down in my room with my eyes closed.

Were you hungry during your fast?
Yes, what I thought of as hunger, during most of the fast.

Did you get weak?
Yes, I became extremely weak, going to the bathroom was a huge chore.

What was the best part of the process for you?
Re-feeding.

What was the most difficult part of the process for you?
The middle of the fast was really hard. It went by the slowest.

Was it ever painful? Did you experience discomfort?
yes, I had back and stomach issues most of the time.

What are you experiencing now after the fast?
Getting energy back, but since I’m still detoxing nasty chemicals and things I’m still tired and my muscles are sore.

Did you experience any changes due to fasting?
Yes, emotional changes definitely. I feel much better emotionally. I had a lot of time to think. Physically I feel a lot better as well getting some of those “reserves” off me and getting rid of chemicals. I just feel over all much better.

What kind of diet are you following after your fast?
Raw vegan whole foods. I’m staying as an intern and will adopt Tanglewood’s diet. I really like the diet I hope to stick with it even after I leave.

Is eating difficult for you now that you’ve complete the fast?
It was a tiny bit at first. But now on day 6, not at all, I love eating!

Would you fast again?
?? Yes I think I will some day.

What advice would you give to other fasters?
Go into it with an open mind about yourself. Allow yourself to thingk about your life and your emotions, you will be surprised at how much you can learn in 21 days.
