Why did you decide to fast?
Chronic fatigue and eczema.

What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast?
Losing too much weight.

Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? Why and why did you continue or stop?
At day 28 because I woke up at 2 a.m. and thought I was extremely hungry. But it turned out that it was a bad dream and I imagined it. I was feeling fine a few hours later. Otherwise, no, I never considered it.

Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast?
Yes.

Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why or why not?
Yes, definitely. There are symptoms that are likely to come up that you would like to discuss with a knowledgeable and experimented hygienist. Also being away from home and avoiding its distraction is very advisable.

Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center?
Because I was impressed with the information I received prior to my arrival; professional and competent and lots of experience.

What was your experience at the TWC like?
Outstanding in any aspect; experienced, professional and kind, genuine staff, beautiful setting in nature. Enriching and truly life-changing experience on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

What did you experience during the fast?
Mostly peace and pleasant feelings. Some mind games, deep insight, mental clarity.

How did you spend your time?
Resting in bed, reading, talking to roommate, majority just resting with eyes closed.

Just purified water? Did you get hungry?
No. In week 1 and 2 a few moments with “false hunger” sensation but never created a problem.

Did you get weak?
Yes, very.

What was the best part of the process for you?
Breaking the fast. Leaving TWC full of confidence and trust in my body’s self-healing abilities.

What was the most difficult part of the process for you?
Re-feeding because I took a long time to get used to the food and this postponed the weight gain significantly as well as the healing signs until day 12.

Was it ever painful?
Emotionally at times but I also felt very strong in that sense too. You just become more resilient with challenges you’re facing in life.

What did you experience after the fast?
A lot of joy, happiness, like a new “me.” Confidence as never before to gradually move toward strong, vibrant helath. Empowerment and peace.

Did you experience any changes due to fasting?
Yes, enormous strength in my body’s self-healing abilities as well as on a mental, emotional and spiritual level. Freedom.

What kind of diet did you follow after your fast?
The Natural Hygiene as practiced here at Tanglewood because I believe in it and feel that this is the right thing for me.

Was eating difficult afterwards?
No.

Would you fast again?
Yes.

What piece of advice would you give to other fasters?
If you feel ready for it, it will be an experience for you you’ll never forget.
